Fresh vegetables such as potatoes, carrots and onions are placed at the bottom of the pan, under the meat, to mature faster. Rooted vegetables tend to mature more slowly than meat. Vegetables can also be put in an hour before cooking is finished with finely sliced or shredded.

Slow Cooker

You also better do not open the cover during cooking because it will cause the steam to run and slow the cooking process. To check the cooking process, tilt the cover slightly so that the steam comes out for easy viewing into the pot.

The pot or pan in the Slow Cooker must be at least half filled for good slow cooking results. To prevent overflow during cooking, do not fill the liquid up to the pot limit, up to 4 cm below the pot lips.

To save cooking time, use water or broth that has been heated. Exhaust skin poultry and other excessive meat fats before cooking.

  • Adding certain food items at the end of cooking time

Pasta, seafood, milk, cream or coconut milk should be added 15-30 minutes before the SC is switched off. Gentle vegetables such as: tomatoes, mushrooms, sukini added 30 minutes before cooking is finished. Some mothers have put vegetables last time with sliced or shredded, so not too long cooking process.

Additionally, use water or broth that has been heated to save cooking time. Spices such as salt, pepper powder and spices are added at the end of cooking.

  • Some of the food menu that fits cooked with SC

You better cook the food which is most ideal for cooking a sauce dish, setup (stew) or grilling. Try these some recipes such as: team rice, chicken porridge, making stock broth, ox tail or ribs soup, and others.

Any recipe can be cooked with SC, which is important to consider to reduce the amount of fluid from a quarter to half of the amount listed in the regular recipe. Generally cuisine will mature about 6-8 hours for setting LOW or 4-6 hours for setting HIGH.

Common Mistake Slow Cooker Usage

oops ! mistake

Slow cookers have an appeal to serving food when you do not have much time. Unfortunately, most people still think if with a slow cooker, all the ingredients can be directly inserted and forget the other good things. Here are the mistakes that should be avoided when cooking using a slow cooker to make the meat soft and tasty and vegetables are not soft, as reviewed by Bonappetit:

  • Using lean meats

The meat will be cooked for a long time so do not worry if the meat is still tough and has crude fiber. Meat with a lot of fat content such as short ribs (ribs ribs) is suitable to be cooked using a slow cooker. Fat will keep the meat moist and slow cooking techniques will break the connective tissue that can cause the meat becomes tough. So if you want to cook with a slow cooker, you should use fatty meat.

  • Putting raw meat into the slow cooker

Maybe you think when cooking with a slow cooker all the raw ingredients can be put into the pan and magically within a few hours the food will be cooked well and delicious. Unfortunately, slow cooker does not work that way. Always heat the meat first in the pan until the sides are browned before being put into the slow cooker. This also adds a layer of caramel taste to the meat that is not obtained from other ways.

  • No adding seasoning or anything sweet

Seasoning will enrich the taste of meat. Use fried onions to caramelize, black pepper, and sauce to match your recipe. For sweet dishes, add sugar and tomato paste. Most cooking flavors become damaged when cooking with a slow cooker so the addition of spices or sauce with a strong flavor gives extra flavor to the broth.

  • Adding mild spices, crunchy vegetables, and milk at the start of cooking

Mild spices provide a fresh flavor like herbs and herbs. These spices will look unappealing when cooked in a slow cooker, turning brown and withered.

So, better add these ingredients towards the end of cooking. If you want to add some kind of crunchy vegetables in your cooking, you should also put it towards the end to avoid soft vegetables. While milk should be included at the end of cooking because the texture of the gravy will thicken.

  • Throwing away the chicken skin

Although you do not like chicken skin because of its fat content, but chicken fat helps make chicken meat becomes more tender. You do not need to heat the chicken meat over the pan first before it is put into the slow cooker.

  • Cooking something that should still be textured

If you intend to make lasagna, macaroni and cheese, or other menu that is easy to mature, you should not use a slow cooker even though there are some recipes that allow it. Processed pasta and noodles will become mushy and messy if cooked with a slow cooker, but quite easy to process it with a pot or a regular pan.

I came across the subject of Primitive Reflexes a few times in the last year, and really took an interest about a month ago when I decided to do a course online about it. Doing anything in my body has always been hard for me, and learning about the unintegrated reflexes made me realise why. It so happened that the only person trained in NZ on the Rhythmic Movement website, lives 8 mins away from me I've had one session so far with her, she's a kineseologist, and she worked getting my body switched on to achieve success integrating the reflexes. These reflexes can be integrated at any age in life. It appears from all my symptoms and the journey in my life, I have an active fear paralysis reflex and actiive moro reflex. It all makes so much sense now. Just even reading the course has me in tears because I relate to it all so much. Reflexes A reflex is an automatic, repetitive movement that is instinctual and aids in development, as well as development of the brain. We have many reflexes, like blinking, but the one's I want to talk about are primitive reflexes. These are reflexes that are formed in the womb and hopefully become inactive in the toddler stage. Sucking, and grasping of the hands, are primitive reflexes. These reflexes, and others, are designed to transform into more sophisticated movements, and therefore become integrated. They form the foundation, and development of balance, mobility, hearing, speaking, vision, learning and communicating. Unintegrated Reflexes There are many reasons why these reflexes don't phase out, ie: lack of movement as a child, stress in the mother in pregnancy, illness, environmental toxins and many more reasons. They can be retriggered any time in life, often due to trauma and stress, and because of this, can cause a whole host of issues ranging from anxiety, ADHD, depression, learning disorders, sensory disorders, lack of confidence, extreme shyness, vision and hearing problems, addictions, autism and constantly feeling overwhelmed. Reflex movements are the foundation of our nervous system, they originate in the brain stem, so they really are about survival, and staying unintegrated cause someone to be constantly in fight or flight. Body parts can't move independently and freely, and can cause weak muscle tone, aches and muscle tension, fatigue, and a lot of effort to complete tasks. Key Childhood Reflexes Fear Paralysis Reflex This reflex should ideally be integrated before birth and is about freezing, as in a deer in the headlights. Without integration it may cause the Moro reflex to not integrate as well. Some long term effects of an unintegrated Fear Paralysis reflex are: Underlying anxiety Insecurity Depression Extreme shyness Fear of groups Fear of separation Phobias Withdrawal from touch Sleep and eating disorders and many more Moro Reflex Sometimes called the infant-startle reflex, this is an automatic reaction to sudden changes in stimuli, ie: bright lights, sounds, temperature, touch, movement. Unintegrated, a person can feel hypersensitive to any incoming stimulation. This can cause a change in blood pressure, cortisol and adrenaline levels, and breathing rate. Some long term effects of an unintegrated Moro reflex are: Poor digestion Weak immune system Poor balance and coordination Difficulty adapting to change Difficulty filtering stimuli hyperactivity then fatigue Difficulty with visual perception Hypersensitivity to sound, light, touch, movement, smell Emotional outbursts, easy to anger and many more Other reflexes that can be unintegrated are Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex, Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex, Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex, Spinal Galant Reflex, Oral, Hand and Foot Reflexes. Integrating Reflexes There are different body movements to do daily in order to integrate these reflexes. I've read a lot of wonderful testimonials about the changes that can happen. I will keep you updated about what happens for me in my sessions and from doing the course online.
